Articles
As a journalist, I specialize in medicine, health, fitness, HIV, parenting and lesbian and gay issues. These are some of my favorite articles:
Over the years, I have written many articles for Essence. In 1991, with my mom, Clara, I wrote “Coming Out,” which, at the time, received more mail than any other in the magazine’s history. Due to the overwhelming response, we followed up with an update several months later.
- Coming Out (1.5mb)
- Response to Coming Out (1mb)
- Revelations (1.3mb)
- Our Girls in Crisis (1.7mb)
I have written often for the Times, mainly covering health. Two of my articles on African-Americans and HIV/AIDS appeared on the front page of the paper.
